KAHIBAH MENS’ BOWLING CLUB
The process of the election of the Mens’ Bowling Club Committee for 2017/2018 is now under way. An Explanation and Nomination sheet is on the noticeboard and nomination forms are available from the bar or the front desk. Nominations will close on 28th June 2017 with an election scheduled for Wednesday 5th July, Friday 7th July and Saturday 8th July between the hours of 11.30 am and 1.00 pm if required.
Our Club Pairs Championship has now been completed with victory going to Tony Falcocchio and Howard Smith over the pairing of Wayne Squires and Shannon Rowe 20-14.
Club Major Singles has now reached the quarter final stage with Daniel Collaros facing Ken McDonald, Brad Menzies to meet Glen Dow, Howard Smith to clash with Shannon Rowe and Jamie Dow to play Bill Robertson. In a number of interesting results Glen ousted Sam Laguzza and Jamie accounted for both John Smith and Kim Jaques in the early rounds. There is the possibility that we could see a father and son final if these two continue on their winning ways.
The Club Triples will be next on the agenda with matches due to commence on or after 24th June. Entries are still open for the Minor Singles, Mixed Pairs and Mixed Fours with a closing date of the 16th July for all three events.
Tournaments are well in sight now with the Darby Ross Singles scheduled for 27th – 30th June. The field of 56 has just about been finalised with Tuesday 27th June and Wednesday 28th June as the Qualifying Days with Post-Sectional play on Thursday 29th June and Finals Day on Friday 30th June. A quality field has once again been assembled and Sam Laguzza is back to defend his title. Keep an eye out for our new initiative the 56 Club which will give you an opportunity to perhaps pick the winner and pick up a reward.
The Allan Shaw Super 11 Pairs entries are now open with the event scheduled for 15th-16th July. This is an opportunity for bowlers with a grading lower than No 4 Grade to compete for good prizemoney and we would like to see as much support as possible from our own club members.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to conduct the Open Mixed Pairs Tournament this year but hopefully we will be able to conduct it again in 2018.
Congratulations to Howard Smith and Sam Laguzza on their part in the winning Zone 2 side in the State Senior Interzone Sides Championship held at Sylvania and Taren Point Bowling Clubs in May . The side went through the series undefeated narrowly beating the Zone 12 side in an exciting final.
