Welcome to the July Board of Communication
14th August 2018
The Club AGM is set for 9:30am Sunday 26th August 2018 in the function rooms. Nominations for election of Directors are currently open and will close 6.00pm Friday 10th August 2018. This year the members will be electing four (4) ordinary Directors as covered under the constitutional changes last year. If you are interested in nominating for a position on the Board please see the CEO.
The Club’s newly developed game of “Short Rink” has started a pilot program with Whitebridge High as part of their sports program. The students play a round of mini golf and several games of “Short Rink” every Thursday through this school term. The students will assist us in fine tuning playing conditions, rules and scoring processes before we launch “Short Rink” to other interested Clubs. Clubs NSW have already shown interest and in the coming months will be bringing a full media crew to help us launch and promote the game. “Short Rink” can you “Conquer the Game”.
We are very excited to welcome our newest community sporting partners, Regals Hockey Club. Regals were formed in 1975 and have teams in both the junior girls and senior women’s hockey competitions in Newcastle. The ladies from Regals are very professional and have been a pleasure to assist in forming our latest partnership and we look forward to a long association in supporting this fantastic community sporting club. Please welcome the Regals Hockey Club to our family.
Our Function room ceiling refurbishments are well and truly underway and we hope to have them completed by Saturday 4th August. The work has been fast and furious and we are very happy with the progress, and the new look will tie in very well with other work completed over the past few years. New furniture for the function rooms has been ordered and we are hoping for delivery in early September 2018.
You will have noticed the works currently under way on our bar area. Chris (our CEO) and Graham (our Sports and Community Coordinator) have been working hard to prepare the bar for a face lift. A new bar face and back display wall will be completed over the coming weeks adding a more modern look to this area of the Club. The visual change will complement works already completed in the restaurant, deck and gaming spaces and the soon to be completed upgrade to the function rooms.
Speaking of the restaurant, Emma announced this week our new restaurant to open in early September, “WOODS & CO”. We are very excited to have the team from Blue Star Catering Services joining our Club and providing our members and guests with a new fresh approach and culinary delights. WOODS & CO sister restaurants include Canon Food Bar Espresso in Warners Bay, Lotus Corner at The Junction, Cielo Italiano and Six Degrees in the renowned Harbourview precinct, as well as catering services to the Harbourview Function Centre and Fort Scratchley’s.
If you have anything you would like the Board to communicate on, please put it in writing and deliver to our CEO prior to each months Board meeting. The Board meets every third or fourth Monday of each month.
