Welcome to the February 2018 Board Communication
After a very thorough and exciting process we welcome a new member to the KSC staff, Emma Hazelton. Emma is our new Marketing and Events Coordinator, becoming the face of the club, engaging functions, dealing with our ancient and tired website and promoting the club supporting our community. We are very excited to have Emma on board and we wish her the very best in her new role. Please welcome Emma and say g’day!
The Board is looking forward to Graham Smith’s return, March 26th. Graham will return to his role as Sports and Community Co-ordinator and continue with his previous great work in regards to investigating, exploring and gaining grants towards our commitments to the community, as well as Embracing, Supporting and Partnering with all of our supported groups and community activities. For those who aren’t aware, a big thank you must go to Graham for his efforts in attaining a $20k grant from the Australian Government Stronger Community Program to assist with construction costs for the Mini Golf course. Pat Conroy MP was fantastic in assisting and supporting the Club in applying for this grant. Graham had also previously applied for a grant to assist with shading and lighting and we hope to bring you further news on that application soon.
We welcome Toby and Kirra from the University of Newcastle on work placement from March until the end of June. They will attend the Club for 100hrs during Semester One to experience the working environment and to enhance their studies in marketing, business and community embracement. This program has been encouraged by our Deputy Chairman, Peter Conlon, and will lead to a greater partnership with the University.
The January board meeting saw the completion of a substantial review of the Boards Strategic Plan. This requires a considerable investment in time and careful consideration towards the performance and direction of the Club. The Board critically assess our successes and shortcomings so we can keep the club viable well into the future. This happens quarterly with the strategic plan being reviewed constantly and renewed when needed.
All members should be aware that the Club has strong working policies in place that are backed by the Clubs Constitution and By-Laws. These include but are not limited to Anti-Discrimination, Bullying and Harassment Policy, WHS policies and procedures for safe work place for staff, members and guests, and zero tolerance for violence or abuse of any kind. The Constitution, By-Laws and working policies and procedures are in place so that we can all feel safe and comfortable in our Club environment whether it be members, visitors or staff.
If you have anything you would like the Board to communicate on, please put it in writing and deliver to our CEO prior to each months Board meeting. The Board meets every third or fourth Monday of the month.
