WEEKLY NOTES 22.1.12

Teams skippered by Barry Grace and Tony Falcocchio contested the final of the Cyril Kemp Two Bowl Triples. Grace had with him Brian Denning as lead and Peter Davis as second, whilst Falcocchio’s team had Ken Wood leading and Barry Coleman in the middle. For three quarters of the final there was little between the two sides although it was Grace’s side that usually held the lead. Thus after 18 ends the score was Grace 19, Falcocchio 17. Then came the winning break: Grace’s side won six consecutive ends to go to 28, and the final was over.

Meanwhile the Club Fours Championship began with two games being played. Kevin Gibbons with George Wivell, Brian Wells, and Peter Blundell took the lead after three ends against John Hayes, Charlie Cunningham, Gerry Gamble, and Bernie McDonald. They then piled on 15 unanswered shots to go to 22-3 and the game was virtually over, the final score being Gibbons 29, Hayes, 15.

In the other game Paul Robertson, with Barry Duff, Bill Summers, and Ian Gibbons led from the outset against Barry Humphries, Paul Delforce, Brad Hardy, and Neil Robson. They went on to enjoy a comfortable lead for the rest of the proceedings, eventually winning 25-12
